March’s Sessions:

What is Autism with Donna Wearn of Autism Wessex

This session will provide participants with a new or deeper understanding of autism in children and adults. It will include characteristics of autistic individuals so that learners can reframe their thinking on autism and adopt a more inclusive, respectful approach. The session will also cover the use of language, myth-bust assumptions and pre-conceived ideas. A practical session that will inform and celebrate the autistic person’s strengths and unique talents.

This promises to be an activity-based session, delivered by a qualified Brain Friendly trainer focused on learning techniques that are fun, and which embed the content so that information can be recalled effectively. The content will be rich and multi-sensory and accessible whatever your learning style.

Emotional Intelligence - Self-Awareness and Self-Management with Louise Hollloway of The People Partner HR & Training

Most of us will have heard of the concept of Emotional Intelligence, but that’s as far as we’ve got. We’ve probably all been in situations that, in the cold light of day, we know we could have handled better or wish we had responded to differently, if only we had been able to control our reactions.

This interactive session will act as an introduction to some of the key areas of Emotional Intelligence – Self-Awareness and Self-Management. We will be exploring why EI is important in today’s world of targets and deliverables before focusing on our own emotions. We’ll look at how we can better recognise our own feelings and behaviours, how we can better manage our reactions, and how this can make us more mentally agile in different situations.

What do Engaging Managers Do? with Rod Webb

Recent research by Gallop indicates that Employee Engagement remains pitifully low across the world, a situation that probably hasn’t been helped by organisations furloughing staff during the pandemic and then ignoring them for many months, despite guidance that training and development for furloughed staff could/should continue.

All the research suggests that as well as helping retention, organisations with engaged employees perform better. So, what do engaging mangers do? Is it rocket science? What can we do to help managers develop their ability to build engagement in their teams? In this session, I’ll be showcasing one of the updated Employee Engagement modules in Trainers’ Library that looks at the common behaviours engaging managers seem to adopt.

Session order may change.
