April’s Sessions:

Embrace Holistic Learning with Nicki Davey

Deep, meaningful learning which actually changes behaviour needs to be holistic, i.e. it happens on a physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual level. The body, mind, heart and spirit are all interconnected and learning should therefore involve multiple layers of stimulus, meaning and experience to engage the whole person and create the deep understanding which leads to behavioural change.

Neuroscience and behavioural psychology have transformed our understanding of how the brain works, how the body, mind heart and spirit are all inextricably linked, and how this impacts on learning. In this session you’ll:

  • Discover the principles of Holistic Learning and why these are so important for learning.

  • Explore the science that underpins the Holistic Learning approach.

  • Take away lots of simple, affordable, and practical ideas to make both your online and your face-to-face training more engaging, enjoyable and effective.

  • Be inspired to explore new possibilities and try new approaches to learning.

You'll leave with a clear understanding of holistic learning and lots of practical tips, techniques and ideas for making your own training more holistic.

What’s the Difference Between Training and Facilitation with Ann Pemberton

Sounds like the sort of a corny joke, but in reality, what is the difference? In this session we’ll discuss the differences, the impact on learners and why as trainers, we can sometimes find it hard to let go of the trainer guide and slide pack.

Ann Pemberton has been facilitating learning for the last 20 years as the MD of Open Road Learning. Her passions are Leadership, Behavioural Change and Mental Health and Wellbeing. In her spare time, she loves helping ex racing greyhounds find new homes and going to music events.

The Power to Influence with Rod Webb

Using power and influence in the same sentence might suggest influence that is a bit draconian, based on position or strength. We all need a certain amount of power if we want to influence others but power isn’t restricted to those at the top, those who can shout loudest or those who can flex the most inconceivably large muscles!

Strength and power come in many forms. In this fun, story-based session, we’ll look at where the power to influence comes from. You’ll gain an understanding of your own influencing power portfolio and an awareness of how you might be able to tap into other people’s strengths to increase your ability to achieve successful outcomes when seeking to influence.
